Chapter 18
"You're grounded?"
"Yep."
"For how long?"
"Till the end of the year."
"Whaaat?"
"Yep," I sighed.
"How can she do that?" Jack inquired, frowning.
"I don't know, but she is," I sighed, opening my locker to empty my bag.
"So this weekend the two of you are stuck at home?"
I nodded. "Yeah, and it bloody sucks."
"Damn... And there's that new movie out!"
"Guess I'm gonna have to miss it... Say, do you know any good tv shows?"
"Doctor Who," he replied immediately. "Trust me, you'll love it."
I laughed. "I'll check it out. But if I don't like it, it's your fault!"
"Trust me, you'll like it! Anyways I'll text you later or something, Finn and I have got to go somewhere."
"Alrighty, bye!"
"Bye!"
He walked off down the hallway to the exit. I continued emptying my bag until I felt a pair of arms wrap around me. I giggled.
"Hey there!" Phil said.
"Hello!" I replied, turning around to face him. But I sighed slightly when I remembered Nancy's rules.
"What's up?" he asked, concerned.
"Nothing, I'm fine."
"Tell me."
I looked up at him. "Phil... Nancy doesn't want me to be seeing you anymore."
"What?" he asked, frowning slightly. "What do you mean?"
"She... She imposed a no boyfriends rule. And the fact that Lizzy and I are grounded until summer."
"What?"
"Phil, I don't care. I'll sneak out on Sundays if I have to-"
"I don't want you getting into more trouble!"
"No. I promised you I'd be there. And I'm not about to go back on that promise, alright?"
He sighed. "Alright."
"Good," I said, kissing him quickly. "I've got to go Phil. Lizzy's waiting for me."
"Alright..." he seemed down.
I took his hand in mine and squeezed. "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault."
"I'll be there Sunday, I promise."
He nodded. "Okay."
I hugged him and left.
"Took you long enough!" Lizzy sighed as she saw me walking up to her.
"I was busy! Don't tell me you weren't, too."
"Fine, I was talking to Dan, I just got here," she answered.
We began walking home in silence, which wasn't odd for the two of us, but not exactly usual.
"Hey Lizzy..." I started, but then sighed. "No, never mind."
"What is it?"
"Forget it!"
"Eh, don't do that!"
"Fine. I wanted to ask you... What's up with Dan and you?"
"I already told you, Maya."
"I know, but I mean..." I trailed off.
"Can I ask you for a favour?"
"Anything."
"Can you... Try to convince Finn and Dan to stop arguing?"
I sighed. "I don't think I can."
"Please?" she practically pleaded. "I hate seeing them mad at each other."
"I'll try, Lizzy."
"How? When?"
"Okay, calm down."
I pulled my phone out of my bag and slid it open. I typed out two quick text messages, pressed send and turned to Lizzy.
"There. I texted Finn asking him to stop ignoring Dan, and vice-versa. Now what they say isn't any of my decision."
"Yep."
"For how long?"
"Till the end of the year."
